It’s our pleasure to announce the next VentureClass of 2018 on Thursday evening 27 September, in collaboration with IBM Client Innovation Center Benelux. In this VentureClass we will discuss IBM CIC’s roll in creating the IBM Blockchain Centre of Delivery for Europe in Groningen with Aman Sharma.
Hailing from the metropolitan city of New Delhi, India, Aman Sharma has been living in Groningen since 2010 – first moving to this vibrant city to pursue a degree in Economics at the University. Today, he is managing the development team building IBM’s most ambitious and high profile blockchain project for a consortium of 9 banks operating across 11 European countries. This is the first largescale production-grade enterprise blockchain application in the world – designed, developed, tested and deployed largely from Groningen, thereby putting the city on the world map for IBM. Aman studies traditional finance alongside work, is at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge blockchain technology with IBM for clients all leaders in their industries, and is a hobbyist cryptocurrency investor in his own time. The past, present and future of Finance. Outside the workplace, he’s a Formula 1 aficionado, keen to play the piano, and reading a new book every 2 weeks.
IBM Client Innovation Center Benelux
In 2013 the doors of the first IBM Client Innovation Center (CIC) in the Benelux was opened: in the vibrant city of Groningen. Since then it has grown massively. IBM has their own Design Studio and DevOps Garage in Groningen now, and opened a second office in Amsterdam. From designing to maintenance, they work on a lot of interesting projects for their clients.

In this VentureClass Eelkje Oldenburger, Managing Director, will of course talk about Hempflax, but also the changes that come with the transition from startup to bigger established company.
HempFlax is a socially responsible and ethical company that gives back to the planet by offering consumers affordable natural hemp products. By actively stimulating the awareness process of entrepreneurs in the world market, we contribute to the sustainability of their company.
Eelkje studied Internationals Business at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. She started her career within the banking industry, and the last 16 years she held different managerial positions which were always linked to successfully apply change-and people management.
In 2016 Eelkje joined the Hempflax team.

On 20 September we had a wonderful celebration of 5 years UGCE, together with the opening of Northern Knowledge and the new building, on 22 November we carry on the celebration of our first lustrum with a special VentureClass.
During this special VentureClass, we will look back, and ahead. We have invited several VentureLab alumni to take the stage, and we will officially launch our 5 Years UGCE Magazine and the new VentureLab Book. We will start the evening with a dinner.
