VentureClass ‘Clean Tech Aviation: Entrepreneurship Takes Flight’

It’s our pleasure to announce the next VentureClass of 2018 on Thursday evening 22 February. For this VentureClass we have invited VentureLab alumn Ben Cappelle, CEO of Clean Teach Aviation.

The story of Clean Tech Aviation begins in 2008 with a search for a large piston engined aircraft to begin the introduction of biofuel into aviation. Now 10 years later a large international consortium has been formed around Clean Tech Aviation and CTA has operations in three locations:

  • Airport Teuge hangaring the testaircrafts
  • The bio engine duration testlab on EnTranCe
  • The CNG and LNG  tank design and production will be done together with  CTA GmbH at the R&D airport Braunschweig in Germany

Join us on 22 February as 2 time VentureLab alumnus Ben Cappelle, founder and CEO of CTA, talks about CTA and the developments over the past ten years. The VentureClass  will conclude with a Q&A session, followed by networking drinks.

VentureClass ‘Expanding Horizons with Horus View and Explore’

It’s our pleasure to announce the next VentureClass of 2018 on Thursday evening 22 March. For this VentureClass we have invited René Bolhuis, CEO of MKB Innovation Top 100 Company Horus View and Explore.

While the cameras from Horus View and Explore can be found across the globe, from Peru to the shores of the Zambezi river, the company was founded and is located in Bedum, the Netherlands.
What began with a 360 degree camera to help René in his work as a fire commander, has grown to a global company that focuses on Video and Sensor Technology, Geographical Information Systems, Deep Learning, Virtual Reality and Live Data Streaming.

Join us on March 22 to hear about Horus, and how the cameras help fight poaching in southern Africa, identify smugglers in Saudi Arabia, and how they use virtual reality to give patients in hospitals a feeling of being home!

The VentureClass  will conclude with a Q&A session, followed by networking drinks.

VentureClass “Innovate with Innocore”

It’s our pleasure to announce the next VentureClass of 2018 on Thursday evening 19 April. For this VentureClass we have invited Jan Hendriks, CEO of Groningen Ondernemersprijs Winner Innocore Pharmaceuticals.

Founded in 2004 InnoCore is dedicated to developing, in close collaboration with its pharma and biotech partners, minimally invasive and long-acting injectable polymer based depot formulation products for precise delivery of small molecules, peptides and protein therapeutics as to contribute to enhanced patient care.

Alumnus of University of Groningen, CEO of Innocore since 2014 has led Innocore to winning the Groninger Ondernemersprijs in 2017.

Join us on April 19 to hear about Innocore. The VentureClass  will conclude with a Q&A session, followed by networking drinks.

Heleen van Balen                                                                                                                                                                                                  Heleen van Balen studied Law at the University of Groningen. She specializes in Strategic Legal Management, Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC), and higher education management and development. Heleen van Balen is the proprietor of Commutatio Group BV and a lecturer in Leadership and Governance at the Hanze UAS Groningen. Heleen van Balen has extensive experience in governance and management. She is the chair of the Giraffa Network and vice chair of the Groningen Commercial Club. She is also a member of the board of Het Behouden Huys.

Monique Schoondorp
Monique Schoondorp has a PhD in Chemistry from University of Groningen, and previously held a lectorate New Business and Energy at the Hanze UAS. Currently she is managing partner at Omega Green, the successor of Algaecom. Omega Green B.V. builds and installs her own unique algae grow system specially designed for large scale production.

Aman Sharma

Hailing from the metropolitan city of New Delhi, India, Aman Sharma has been living in Groningen since 2010 – first moving to this vibrant city to pursue a degree in Economics at the University. Today, he is managing the development team building IBM’s most ambitious and high profile blockchain project for a consortium of 9 banks operating across 11 European countries. This is the first largescale production-grade enterprise blockchain application in the world – designed, developed, tested and deployed largely from Groningen, thereby putting the city on the world map for IBM. Aman studies traditional finance alongside work, is at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge blockchain technology with IBM for clients all leaders in their industries, and is a hobbyist cryptocurrency investor in his own time. The past, present and future of Finance. Outside the workplace, he’s a Formula 1 aficionado, keen to play the piano, and reading a new book every 2 weeks.

 

IBM Client Innovation Center Benelux
In 2013 the doors of the first IBM Client Innovation Center (CIC) in the Benelux was opened: in the vibrant city of Groningen. Since then it has grown massively. IBM has their own Design Studio and DevOps Garage in Groningen now, and opened a second office in Amsterdam. From designing to maintenance, they work on a lot of interesting projects for their clients.

Eelkje studied Internationals Business at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. She started her career within the banking industry, and the last 16 years she held different managerial positions which were always linked to successfully apply change-and people management.
In 2016 Eelkje joined the Hempflax team.

On 20 September we had a wonderful celebration of 5 years UGCE, together with the opening of Northern Knowledge and the new building, on 22 November we carry on the celebration of our first lustrum with a special VentureClass.
